| The number of mandatory CLE hours varies from state to state, but an average of 15 hours is required. In general, credits must be completed and reported by the last day of an attorney's birth month each year.
The Akorbi CLE informs attorneys of case studies where mistranslation of documents and/or poor conduct of verbal interpreters in deposition or trial negatively impacted the case. The lessons learned in the past can be useful for attorneys in the future.
Knowing about the errors of the past is only one piece of the puzzle, however. Learning how to prevent similar situations from occurring depends on being educated about the language translations and verbal interpretations field. Akorbi therefore assists attorneys in discerning how to choose an in-house translator, a freelance translator, or a translation agency for a variety of situations that most attorneys will face. The pros and cons of each kind of translation solution will also be discussed in the course.
In regard to interpretation, the CLE will educate lawyers on the various levels of certification available and how to judge which interpreters are best qualified for the case of interest. The CLE will also shed light on the various certification requirements in each of the 50 United States and around the world. |
