Consecutive interpreting generally allows for the highest accuracy and equivalency possible in interpretation. Rather than interpreting while the narrator is still speaking, consecutive interpretation takes place after each coherent block of information - in a "stop and go" flow - allowing more time for the mind to seamlessly convert ideas into the respective language.

Consecutive interpretation is optimal when there are major consequences for misinterpretation, when speed is not the most important factor, and when it is important that all parties hear each other clearly - usually in legal and medical settings.
