Akorbi CEO Named to greater DALLAS HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS


Mirza sees opportunity to add value to a great team of Board members

(DALLAS, TEXAS – JULY 22, 2010)

Akorbi Language Consulting (www.akorbi.com), a global language service provider to the healthcare, technology, legal, pharmaceutical and government industries, announced today that Co-Founder and CEO Claudia Mirza has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Great Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC). Her appointment is effective February 23rd, 2010.

“I have been associated with the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for years, and I’m honored to be selected to serve on the board of directors,” Mirza said. “The chamber is a valued resource for the Dallas Hispanic business community, and I look forward to serving the organization.” Claudia is joining the 19-person board under the leadership of their director, Chairman of the Board, Ricardo Ortiz of Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta LLP.

The Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC) provides a platform for Hispanic businesses to promote themselves and network with fellow Hispanic business owners in the Dallas area. The GDHCC supports the advancement, education and economic growth of the Hispanic business community. With a membership of more than 1,800 businesses, corporations, and individuals, the chamber influences local commerce through certifications, legislative action and business development.

“Claudia has been very active in the Chamber and a great mentor to our Young Professionals Group,” said Yolanda Tafoya, COO of the GDHCC. “She also brings a high level of leadership and energy to our Board. Claudia led the efforts to build the Technology Showcase event into an annual success.”

Prior to founding Akorbi, Claudia served in management positions with top companies including GENUITY (formerly GTE Internetworking) in the U.S. where she led a number of enterprise-process improvement and optimization programs, SPIE CAPAG-ISMOCOL, in Colombia where she managed teams of engineers who built large natural gas-line projects, and TESIS Y DISENOS, in Colombia where she served in marketing management.

Claudia has earned a number of awards and recognitions including: SCORE as a success story; Dallas Business Journal’s “Top 40 rising stars under 40”; nominated as a “Community Hero” by the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex Technology Business Council; Woman-Owned Business Enterprise of the Year by the NCTRCA; Mayor's Entrepreneur Award at the Fort Worth Entrepreneur Expo; Micro-entrepreneur of the Year by Wachovia and ACCION Texas; Recipient of the Dorothy B. Brothers scholarship.

HISPANIC CHAMBER BOD
Claudia holds two Bachelor of Business Administration degrees, attended the TUCK-WBENC Executive Education Program at the Tuck School of Business and has a Certificate in Management from the SMU Cox Executive Education Program at Southern Methodist University.
