Akorbi featured on cover of Aetna's Diversity Report
The Diversity Report is an annual publication released by Aetna Insurance in order to demonstrate the company's commitment to diversity by highlighting profitable business partnerships with minority and women-owned businesses. This year, featured on the cover is Akorbi Consulting, a fast-growing minority and woman-owned language solutions company based in Irving, TX. In providing accurate translation of materials, interpreters for events throughout the United States, and the localization of software applications and websites, Akorbi has helped Aetna establish more effective processes for all of their language needs.
Akorbi's translation services have virtually revolutionized the speed, costs, and procedures with which Aetna's Spanish language materials are translated. What Aetna calls a "more systematic approach to the translations process" can be described as the company-wide standardization of "Aetna-distinct words" and the use of computer-aid translation software. These measures, established and carried out by a team of Akorbi translators and proofreaders, have resulted in large savings, increased efficiency, and an added value for all of Aetna's translated materials. As the President and CIO of Akorbi, Azam Mirza, put it, "Accuracy is the name of the game in the translation business." This commitment to accuracy, demonstrated in the firm's processes, is critical to Akorbi's success with Aetna.
Akorbi's CEO, Claudia Mirza, described the relationship between Aetna and minority and women-owned businesses as "win-win" because of the low costs and "increased efficiencies" gained by Aetna and for the "increased business and mentoring" that the smaller companies reap. This is certainly true in the case of Akorbi, who are trusted by various Fortune 500 companies, and for Aetna, whose entire translation system has been leveraged by the incorporation of Akorbi's translators, editors, and techniques. Both parties appreciate the affiliation and expect a bright future.
